Simple beginnings, big dreams.
Our two founders, Vanessa and Matt met each other by chance, working at the same location, doing a job that wasn’t the best fit for either of them. They became fast friends, and after several months they found themselves working together at another company. While working together, they realized that their individual styles complemented each other. It was there, that the idea for a private practice that would encourage growth, help foster change, and push people to be their best, was born. After months of throwing ideas around, the world was hit with a terrible disaster, and they knew they needed to respond. Unpacked began as a strict telehealth practice.
Here at Unpacked, we believe that you are deserving of love and belonging and that sometimes we get lost. Life hits us, emotions happen, or we simply get stuck, and we need help ‘unpacking’ those life experiences. If you sat in on a therapy session, it wouldn’t be uncommon for you to hear one of our therapists saying, “Let’s unpack that.” Now, you may be thinking, “But, that’s not your name, your name is unpacked.” We did that for a reason. We don’t want you to be stuck in a perpetual cycle of therapist after therapist, trying to figure out how to unpack your emotions. We want you healthy, and ready to move on to the next step in your life. We want you to have the freedom to say, “I unpacked that!”
Our goal is to keep moving forward!
Vanessa Hari, LPC
Vanessa is a dedicated therapist who came to therapy after realizing that she could do and accomplish more in her life. After receiving her degree she immediately started working with children and families as an outpatient therapist where she got her License in Professional Counseling. If you talked to her, she would probably say, "I love working with everyone. Families and kids are my jam." She is dedicated, loyal, and committed to getting you the help that you need. She has extensive training in trauma and would talk your ear off about 'parts work.' When she isn't in the office, you can find her dedicating herself to learning more, watching movies, playing with her dog, and taking time to enjoy the world around her.
Matt Coffman, LPC
Matt, one of our founders, grew up in a small town before moving to the suburbs of Philadelphia for school. He started as a pianist, but something about therapy called to him. It served him well. He voraciously worked to learn all that he could about working with people, and received several hours of training in Dialectic Behavior Therapy and trauma after getting his License as a Professional Counselor. He has experience working with children, families, couples, and those with personality disorders. He is dedicated, fun-loving, and passionate about helping people achieve their goals. When he isn't working you can find him watching a movie, spending time with friends, or working on his next passion.
